Custom Kitchen Table

This is the designer’s kitchen table.

One of the most satisfying, but humbling acts of all, is creating a thing with one’s own hands…making a thing come to life and knowing, in this instance, that this thing will endure the life of its builder…this is indeed humbling.

The memories created at this table…dinner with my wife…celebrations with family and friends…impart a spirituality that transcend its mass.  It was once a living and breathing tree, a Hickory.  It was felled for expansion, but rescued to be part of our lives.

A kitchen table is a place for food, a place for conversation and introspection, a place where grandchildren pass time eating and coloring…a place where the family pooch stole a thing or two…a kitchen table is a tablet that records life.  This is the most satisfying thing that I have ever made…
