Cottage gardens are often thought of as messy and lacking in structure. They are in fact, very difficult gardens to design for these reasons. Incorporating a plant pallet that offers long lasting visual appeal while asking for little maintenance is one of the challenges. The other is power…which we find here in the long mass of architectural grasses that wind purposely through the entire landscape. Careful attention was given to the textural and structural balance of this garden at every time of year…this is this Designer’s house. I am not, in any way, shackled to this garden…it nearly takes care of itself.
